Description

Two birds. Double the charm. Total plant support.
This perfect pair features our two most-loved plant stake styles — the graceful Tūī and the ever-curious Pīwakawaka. Whether you’re giving your vines a leg up, gifting to a fellow plant lover, or just adding character to your indoor jungle, these Corten® steel beauties bring strength and style.

Two favourites in one – Includes 1 x Tūī Stake and 1 x Pīwakawaka Stake
Strong and steady – Each stake is 70cm tall when assembled (2 × 35cm pieces), approx. 300g each
Easy to gift – Packaged in a flat, recyclable A4 box (30 × 21 × 1 cm)
Same-day dispatch – Orders before 2pm ship on weekdays
Locally made – Cut in a family-run NZ workshop
Made to last – 3mm Corten® steel weathers beautifully over time
Functional and beautiful – Ideal for supporting climbing or top-heavy plants

Built for strength — just like the birds they're modelled on.

1. Choose a roomy pot or garden spot with space for plant growth
2. Assemble the two pieces by sliding them firmly together
3. Push the stake into the soil away from roots, using a steady hand
4. Add ties if needed to guide vines or stems
5. Admire your birds as they help your plants climb toward greatness

Top tip: Leave 2–3cm space between the plant base and the stake — your plant will grow stronger by reaching for it naturally.

Can I split this set and gift them separately?
Absolutely! Each stake is individually wrapped in the same box – perfect for sharing or keeping both.

Are these suitable for outdoor plants?
Yes – made from durable 3mm Corten® steel, they’re built for both indoor and outdoor use.

Will these work with all types of plants?
They’re ideal for climbing plants, creepers, or anything that needs upright support – think monstera, pothos, and peas.

What makes this a good gift?
Two beloved native birds, beautiful minimalist design, zero maintenance, and functional too — plant parents love them.

Do real Tūī and Pīwakawaka hang out together?
They do! Pīwakawaka flit close to people (and garden tools), while Tūī keep their distance — but both love native bush and backyard habitats.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.

what’s the word on the bird?
